WATERTOWN, SD — On November 8th, 2024, at approximately 11:31 PM, the Watertown Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at the National Guard Readiness Center. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of forced entry and significant property damage in two buildings. The investigation, carried out by Watertown Police and National Guard personnel, revealed that over $52,000 in damage had been caused, with more than $8,800 in property stolen.
The investigation led to the identification of Kyle Miles-O’Farrell, from Milbank, SD, as the prime suspect. On January 28th, 2025, Watertown detectives, working alongside the Milbank Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), executed search and arrest warrants for Miles-O’Farrell in Milbank. Law enforcement recovered $4,011 worth of stolen property during the operation.
Miles-O’Farrell has been arrested and is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond at the Codington County Detention Center. He faces serious charges including First Degree Burglary, Grand Theft from a Building, and Felony Intentional Damage to Property.
