In a significant operation, Kushinagar police, in collaboration with the STF Lucknow, successfully busted an interstate ganja smuggling gang and arrested three gang members. The operation took place in the Kasya police station area on Sunday evening, where 1.20 quintals of ganja were seized from a container truck.
The joint operation, led by CO Kundan Singh, was carried out under the guidance of SP Santosh Kumar Mishra and ASP Ritesh Kumar Singh. The total value of the recovered cannabis, including the truck, is estimated to be around Rs72 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ajay Yadav of Mau, and Vipin Kumar Pal and Suhail Khan, both residents of Etawah. In addition to the ganja, police also recovered ₹740 in cash, two mobile phones, and Aadhaar cards from the accused.
During questioning, the suspects revealed that they were part of an organized syndicate that procures ganja from Guwahati, Assam, and transports it across state borders by concealing it in compartments of trucks to evade law enforcement detection.
