by Sophia Bennett

A traffic stop for hazardous driving in Paragould, Arkansas, resulted in the arrest of a Missouri man on multiple charges, including drug possession.

Authorities say 38-year-old Kurtus Austin of Hornersville was taken into custody after police responded to reports of a reckless driver near U.S. 412 and Rockingchair Road on March 21. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a stop after observing it cross the center line.

During the stop, police determined that Austin was driving with a suspended license and did not have proof of insurance, leading to his arrest.

According to investigators, an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing uncovered more than two grams of steroids, classified as a Schedule III controlled substance.

Austin has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges for driving with a suspended or revoked license and operating a vehicle without insurance.

He is currently being held at the Greene County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash or surety bond as he awaits his next court appearance.
