The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Kurrimela Ramesh Goud (47), the key accused in a massive cryptocurrency fraud involving approximately Rs95 crore. The case was registered following a complaint by Arra Manoz Kumar, a resident of Karimnagar.
According to officials, Goud, from Nellutla village, Lingala Ghanpur Mandal, Jangaon district, established a fraudulent website under the name ‘GBR’. Using a WhatsApp group, he lured investors with promises of high returns on cryptocurrency investments.
The complainant and 43 other victims were persuaded to transfer their funds to accounts held by Goud and his family members. However, the accused failed to return any of the investments, effectively defrauding the victims of the entire sum.
Authorities have warned the public to remain cautious of online investment schemes promising unrealistic returns, especially those promoted via social media or messaging platforms. The investigation is ongoing to trace and recover the funds.
