Jabbar Oyhangi, a 52-year-old Kurdish civil activist, has been missing for over 10 days after being arrested by the Islamic Republic’s intelligence agents in Sanandaj. Oyhangi was detained on January 12 at his workplace by officers from the Intelligence Department, who reportedly made the arrest without providing an official warrant.

Since his detention, Oyhangi’s family has been unable to determine his whereabouts or well-being, with authorities remaining silent about the reasons for his arrest. There has been no information released regarding any charges against him.

Efforts by his family to obtain details about his location or condition have been unsuccessful, according to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, which is monitoring the situation. This incident adds to a growing pattern of arbitrary arrests targeting civil society activists in Iran’s Kurdish regions, where authorities have been increasing their scrutiny of local advocates for human rights and freedom.
