Kupwara Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Charas Seizure

Crackdown continues as Kupwara cops nab two with contraband substances

Continuing its mission to eliminate drug trafficking, Kupwara Police arrested two men and recovered contraband substances during separate naka checks, police officials said on Sunday.

At Gonipora crossing, a police party intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Zameer Ahmad Doom, son of Ghulam Ahmad Doom from Kupwara. Upon search, a substantial quantity of charas-like substance was recovered. Preliminary investigations indicated Doom’s involvement in illicit drug trafficking in the area.

Similarly, at Greerhachi, police intercepted another suspicious person traveling from Lolab towards Kupwara. The individual was identified as Behran Ahmad Tass, son of Abdul Majeed Tass from Kelaroos. Charas-like substances were recovered from his possession as well.

Both accused have been arrested and are currently in police custody at Kupwara Police Station. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and investigations are underway.

Police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking, emphasizing ongoing surveillance on habitual offenders. The crackdown continues with a firm commitment to safeguarding society, especially the youth, from the menace of drugs.
