Kundapura Man Arrested for Rs1.25 Lakh Jewelry Theft

Ramesh Caught Stealing Gold Chain from SPG Gold

Kundapura: The Kundapura police have arrested 42-year-old Ramesh, a resident of Badaga in Kajekar village, Bantwal taluk, in connection with a theft at SPG Gold and Diamonds near Shastri Circle.

On the evening of January 27, Ramesh posed as a customer, distracting the staff to steal a gold chain weighing approximately 9 grams, valued at Rs1.25 lakh.

Following the complaint, a dedicated police team launched an investigation that led to Ramesh’s arrest. Authorities also recovered the stolen gold chain and Rs33,000 in cash from his possession.

The accused was produced before the court and has been remanded to judicial custody.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Kundapura DYSP H.D. Kulkarni and led by Circle Inspector Jayaram D. Gowda. The team included Sub-Inspectors Nanjanayaka N. and Pushpa, and personnel Santhosh, Mahabala Shettigar, Prince, Ghanashyam, Santhosh Devadiga, Gautham, Lohith, and Chandrashetty.
