In a significant drug bust, Kulgam Police arrested four drug peddlers and seized a large quantity of contraband substances. The arrests were made during two separate operations conducted by the Police Station Qazigund and Police Post Jawahar Tunnel.
At a checkpoint established at Lavdoora Crossing, a police team intercepted an Alto car (registration number JK14J-1218) with two individuals onboard. The arrested suspects were identified as Farook Ahmad Bocken (son of Mohd Yousuf Bocken) and Tanveer Hussain (son of Manzoor Ahmad Bocken), both residents of Udhampur.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 14.7 kgs of poppy straw-like contraband filled in two bags. The two individuals were arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the crime was seized.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted another Alto car (registration number JK14L-2294) with two persons onboard. The arrested individuals were Talib Hussain Bakarwal (son of Ghulam Hussain Bakarwal) and Yasir Ali Bokad (son of Gafoor Ahmad Bokad), both residents of Udhampur.
During a search, 9 kgs of poppy straw-like contraband was recovered from the vehicle. Both individuals were arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
Cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and investigations are currently underway to track further connections in the narcotics trade.
The Kulgam Police have successfully dismantled part of a drug peddling network and are continuing their efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
