Kristy Scott Gilpin, an administrator at Rollins Place Elementary in Zachary, Louisiana, has been arrested and charged with one felony count of cruelty to juveniles. The arrest follows allegations that she forced a 6-year-old student to clean up her own feces after the child had a bathroom accident.
Incident Details
The child’s mother, Jamisha Augustine, explained that her daughter has a dairy allergy and accidentally consumed milk during breakfast. As a result, she became sick and asked to use the restroom. Gilpin allegedly denied the request, claiming the girl had gone too many times that day. The child then soiled herself.
Instead of assisting the child, Gilpin allegedly berated her, saying she was “too big to be having accidents” and needed to be disciplined. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the administrator handing the child gloves and forcing her to clean up the mess.
Mother Speaks Out
Augustine expressed outrage over the incident.
“I said, ‘What was the point of making her clean that up? Do y’all have janitors?’” she told WAFB. “She said they do have janitors, but she needed a form of discipline. How can you punish a child for having an accident?”
Authorities launched an investigation, leading to Gilpin’s arrest. She was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Jail and later released on a $25,000 bond.
School and Community Response
Gilpin’s name was recently removed from the school’s website, where she had been listed as an assistant principal. The Zachary Community School District and local law enforcement have yet to comment on the case.
The child’s mother continues to demand accountability, calling the incident “disgraceful” and stating that no child should be subjected to such humiliation at school.
