A woman was arrested at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport for allegedly assaulting a child during a flight. Police say Kristy Crampton, a passenger on Allegiant Flight 2885 to Hagerstown, Maryland, was taken into custody for child abuse after reportedly striking a child who had insulted her appearance.
The incident occurred on May 26, when the boy allegedly called Crampton “fat” and referred to her as “Miss Piggy.” According to witness statements in the arrest report, the verbal taunts escalated into a physical confrontation. Crampton allegedly hit the child with her fists and then struck him on the head with a water bottle.
Crampton and the child were part of a larger group returning from a family vacation to Disney World. Authorities detained her at the gate upon landing, and she was formally charged shortly thereafter.
The report notes that the altercation caused significant concern among passengers and flight crew, prompting a rapid law enforcement response upon the plane’s arrival in Orlando.
