Kristin Marie Spearman Charged with Felony Stalking Over Fake Marriage Certificate

Texas woman allegedly faked marriage license to harass ex-boyfriend

by Amelia Crawford

Kristin Marie Spearman, 36, from Waco, Texas, was charged with third-degree felony stalking after allegedly deceiving a reverend into certifying a marriage certificate with her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge.

According to police, Spearman convinced the reverend to officiate a marriage license she obtained with the victim, despite the man not consenting or being present. After obtaining the fraudulent marriage certificate, Spearman filed it with the McLennan County Clerk’s Office.

The victim, a 42-year-old man from Beverly Hills, discovered the scheme when he received a Bath & Body Works gift package on June 13, which contained a photo of Spearman holding the forged marriage certificate and a copy of the document itself.

The package delivery followed a breakup and an argument where the man told Spearman he no longer wanted to be in a relationship. Police confirmed Spearman’s actions were part of a scheme to harass her ex.

Spearman was arrested near Hewitt with assistance from the Hewitt Police Department and is currently held on a $10,000 bond. Authorities have withheld the reverend’s identity to protect them from harassment as the investigation continues.
