In a shocking incident in Bengaluru’s Chikkathoguru area near Electronics City, 43-year-old Krishnappa, a daily wage worker from Bagepalli, was arrested for murdering his estranged wife, K Sharada, on Friday night.
Sharada, who worked as a domestic help, was returning home around 8 p.m. when Krishnappa ambushed her. Police said he stabbed her multiple times in the neck, killing her instantly. The couple had been separated for about four years, reportedly due to longstanding suspicions regarding Sharada’s fidelity.
The couple had two children: a 15-year-old son living with Krishnappa in Bagepalli, and a 12-year-old daughter staying with Sharada in Bengaluru. Authorities believe the murder was premeditated, noting that Krishnappa had traveled to Bengaluru with two new knives and waited along Sharada’s usual route.
Bystanders intervened immediately after the attack and handed Krishnappa over to the police. The motive appears rooted in long-standing resentment and suspicion, and the public nature of the crime has left the community shaken. Police investigations are ongoing.
