In a disturbing case of domestic violence in Fatorda, South Goa, Krishna Roy, a Kolkata native, was arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death over her alcohol consumption. The incident took place on April 30 around 8:30 PM.
Police reports state that an argument between the couple escalated into a violent assault. Roy reportedly used a wooden stick and a belt to inflict severe injuries on his wife. A postmortem at Goa Medical College confirmed that the woman died from a severe head injury caused by blunt force trauma. Additionally, multiple fresh injuries were found on her body, indicating repeated assault.
“The cause of death was certified as head injury consequent to blunt force impact in a person with multiple injuries all over the body caused by a blunt weapon,” said a police spokesperson.
Forensic teams have preserved the victim’s viscera for chemical analysis, along with samples for serological and DNA profiling. The body has been handed to the family for last rites.
Fatorda Police Inspector Nathan de Almeida is leading the ongoing investigation as officials await forensic reports to strengthen the case.
