Kohima Police Arrest Four for Rs4L Scrap Theft Highway Material Theft

Habitual offenders caught stealing scrap and NHIDCL materials

Police personnel from Sechü (Zubza) Police Station arrested four habitual offenders on Tuesday for multiple thefts totaling around Rs4 lakh over the last three years.

The arrests followed a complaint from a resident reporting systematic theft of scrap materials, automobile parts, engine components, batteries, and other valuables from a business near the Old KMC dumping site since 2023.

Further investigation uncovered the suspects’ involvement in stealing iron materials belonging to the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), intended for the ongoing four-lane highway project at Zubza.

The arrested accused are:

Throngso Khiung Yim (28) from Shamator, residing in Lower Bayavü, Kohima

Thoungaolou (21) from Tadubi, Senapati (Manipur), residing at Kezekie Colony, Kohima

Khriesietuo Dzuvichü (25) from Kohima, residing at DBS, Kohima

Ruokuozhao Semou (20) from Chiephobozou, residing at Bayavü Colony, Kohima

A regular police case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
