The Odisha Crime Branch today arrested Kishore Kausalya, a resident of Rayagada district, for circulating an AI-morphed obscene video of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Facebook.
The Cyber Crime Unit of the Crime Branch launched an immediate investigation after a citizen lodged a complaint about the morphed video being shared on a Facebook page. The video, which depicted the Chief Minister in an objectionable manner, was reported to be doctored with the intent to defame and tarnish the CM’s image, while also harming the dignity of a woman.
Following the complaint, the Crime Branch registered an FIR and requested Meta Platforms (Facebook) to remove the offensive content, which was promptly taken down.
Further investigation led to the identification of Kishore Kausalya, employed at a construction company in Tikri, Rayagada. The Crime Branch team arrested him from Keutaguda Station Sahi, Chandili police station limits.
The case remains under investigation as authorities delve deeper into the origins and spread of the video.
