Goa: Police have arrested two men from Sangli, Maharashtra, for allegedly stealing a woman’s bag containing valuables at Baga Beach on November 4 between 6 and 7:30 pm.

The complainant, Madhavi Namjibhai Patel (37), a resident of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, reported the theft at the Calangute Police Station. She stated that her backpack — containing three mobile phones, an identity card, a wallet with Rs5,000, clothes, and a rental bike key — all worth around Rs1.85 lakh, had been stolen while she was at the beach.

During the investigation, police tracked one of the stolen mobile phones to Sangli. Acting on the lead, they detained Kishor Kore (27) and Parshram Bansode (25), both residents of Miraj, Sangli.

The suspects were allegedly found in possession of the stolen mobile phones. They were subsequently brought to Calangute Police Station on Sunday for further questioning and investigation.

Police are probing whether the accused were involved in other thefts targeting tourists in the North Goa coastal belt.
