Detectives from Kayole Police Station have arrested a police recruit constable accused of defrauding a member of the public of Sh687,000 by falsely promising to secure employment with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect, identified as Kipkoech Isaac, allegedly approached the complainant on November 12, 2025, claiming he could facilitate the issuance of an official KDF employment letter in exchange for money.

According to investigators, the suspect demanded Sh700,000 for the purported job opportunity. The victim eventually paid Sh687,000, slightly below the agreed amount, believing the process was underway and hopeful of joining the KDF.

Shortly after receiving the money, Kipkoech allegedly disappeared and became unreachable, prompting the victim to report the matter to authorities. Detectives launched investigations and traced the suspect to the National Police College, Embakasi A Campus, where he was arrested.

The suspect is currently being held at Kayole Police Station as investigations continue. Police say he will be arraigned in court once inquiries are completed.
