BOISE, Idaho — Kip Crofts, a former teacher and football coach at Caldwell High School, was arrested Wednesday, June 25, on felony charges of sexual abuse of a child under 16.
According to the Nampa Police Department, Crofts was taken into custody at his current place of employment — working as a custodian for the City of Nampa. The arrest stems from a criminal investigation into alleged abuse that occurred while Crofts was teaching in Caldwell. Caldwell Police requested Nampa Police take over the investigation back in January.
Crofts is now booked into the Canyon County Jail, with charges that carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
Crofts was hired as Caldwell’s head varsity football coach in 2023, bringing with him over 30 years of coaching experience. He previously coached at several Idaho schools including Payette, Meridian, Bishop Kelly, and Eagle High Schools. He also played college football for Boise State University.
The Caldwell School District had publicly welcomed Crofts to the coaching staff last year, citing his long career in education and athletics.
Further details on the case have not been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
