Kinston Man Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Incident

Jerome Washington, 37, charged with multiple offenses after vehicle theft in Eastern Carolina

KINSTON, N.C. — Jerome Washington, 37, of Kinston, was arrested on Friday after being linked to the theft of a vehicle in Eastern Carolina. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when a local driver reported their car had been stolen while they briefly left it running outside a store.

Kinston Police Department officers quickly responded and reviewed security footage, which provided a description of the suspect. The stolen vehicle was later found in the 800 block of Waters Street, where Washington was seen fleeing on foot.

With the assistance of KPD’s K9 Loki, officers tracked Washington to a residence on East Caswell Street, where he was apprehended.

Washington was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, trespassing, and resisting officers. He is currently being held at the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
