AUSTIN, Texas — A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred near a downtown Austin bus stop last month, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said 34-year-old Kimberly Sotelo was taken into custody without incident on Dec. 1 by the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force in Spring, Texas. She was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a murder charge and is awaiting extradition to Travis County.

The arrest is linked to the Nov. 12 shooting death of 52-year-old Gared Goff, which occurred at the intersection of East 5th Street and Trinity Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 8:32 a.m. and found Goff lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Austin-Travis County EMS pronounced Goff dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m.

Investigators said the shooting happened next to a fire station near a downtown bus stop. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the area and interviewed witnesses. Authorities determined Goff was struck by gunfire from a suspect who fled the scene before officers arrived.

The killing marked Austin’s 48th homicide of 2025, according to police.
