Ipswich Man Jailed for Drug Dealing After Covid Disruption
Kieran Parslow, a 30-year-old man from Ipswich, was sentenced to three years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court for drug dealing. Parslow, who pleaded guilty to possession of diamorphine with intent to supply and being involved in the supply of the drug in 2021, had turned back to dealing after his work dried up during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parslow, originally from Colchester, was apprehended on March 22, 2021, when an officer saw him exchange drugs for cash with two women in Little Bramford Lane, Ipswich, a location known for Class A drug use. When approached by police, Parslow fled on his bike but was caught after discarding his belongings. Officers later found £172.90 in cash, bank deposit receipts totaling £760, and two mobile phones containing contacts of known drug users in Ipswich.
A search of Parslow’s Ipswich home revealed several wraps of diamorphine. Despite having prior convictions for drug-related offences, Parslow had previously turned his life around, working in landscaping and building before the pandemic forced him to return to drug dealing to support his family. His defence counsel noted his remorse for his actions.
Judge David Wilson, acknowledging Parslow’s positive attitude in prison and the impact on his family, reduced his sentence to three years, with half to be served in custody.
