FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — An 18-year-old from McLean, Virginia, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Friday night in Herndon.

Kianmeh Shirinipaziziba, 18, was arrested following the incident, which took place around 9:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Elden Street, according to the Herndon Police Department (HPD).

Police initially responded to a report of disorderly conduct, but shortly afterward, Shirinipaziziba himself called authorities. He told officers that he had encountered the victim on Elden Street and shot him, police said.

Responding officers rendered aid to the victim at the scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

After interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence, investigators charged Shirinipaziziba with Second Degree Murder. He was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, and the investigation remains ongoing.
