Five Convicted in £1M Coventry Vehicle Theft Ring

COVENTRY, UK – Five men have been convicted of stealing nearly £1 million worth of luxury cars and motorcycles across Coventry, following one of the most extensive vehicle crime investigations in the city’s history.

Jason O’Farrell (20), Kian O’Shea (19), Deacon Cumberbatch (19), Tyrone Henn (23), and a fifth man aged 18 – who cannot be named for legal reasons – were all involved in a crime spree that spanned 2022 to 2023, involving 47 separate offences including burglaries and violent car-jackings.

According to police, the group not only stole vehicles but in some cases, had the audacity to contact victims offering to sell their own vehicles back.

The investigation led police to recover 24 stolen vehicles, aided by social media posts, phone data, and incriminating messages, such as one from Henn lamenting he only received £400 from a £2,000 theft split.

Chief Supt Paul Drover described the group as “some of the most wanted offenders in Coventry,” adding that the crimes caused not only financial harm but also mental distress to the victims.

“This gang was brazen, and their casual attitude toward the crimes was shocking,” Drover said. “Their convictions should send a clear message about how seriously we treat vehicle crime.”

O’Farrell (no fixed address), O’Shea (Milverton Road), and the 18-year-old pleaded guilty on day two of their trial.

Cumberbatch (Riley Square) changed his plea to guilty.

Henn (Everdon Road) denied the charges but was found guilty at Warwick Crown Court earlier this month.

All five are scheduled to be sentenced in March.
