In a major crackdown on inter-state drug trafficking, the Cyberabad Narcotic Police Station (EAGLE) in coordination with the RNCC Khammam team has seized a massive 847 kilograms of high-grade ganja, valued at over Rs4.2 crore. The operation also led to the arrest of two habitual traffickers from Odisha.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the teams learned of a Uttar Pradesh-registered Mahindra Bolero pick-up transporting ganja from Odisha through Thondapalli village in Shamshabad, along the Bangalore National Highway on August 4.
At approximately 5 PM, the vehicle was intercepted near Jama Masjid, Shamshabad Road. The arrested suspects were identified as Khilla Dhana (29) and Rajendar (26), both hailing from Malkangiri district, Odisha—a region known for illicit ganja cultivation.
The investigation revealed a sophisticated trafficking syndicate. According to police, the main buyer, Shaffiq (alias Shafi) from Uttar Pradesh, orchestrated the supply chain. He arranged for advance vehicles, used couriers and layered financial transactions to mask payments, and maintained a well-insulated communication network to avoid detection.
The authorities have launched further investigations to trace financial trails, middlemen, and possible connections across other states.
