In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, in coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Police, arrested three members of the notorious “Khauf Gang” and two associates from ISBT Kashmere Gate on February 2, 2025. The arrests are linked to the murder of Sumit Jandyal, a member of the rival “Gitaru Gang,” who was shot dead on January 21 near Jewal Rotary in Jammu.
The main accused in the murder, Harsh Singh alias Banta (22), and Abhay Singh (22), both sharpshooters of the Khauf Gang, directly opened fire on Jandyal while he was traveling in his Thar vehicle. Their associate, Arun Kumar (27), is also implicated for playing a pivotal role in the murder.
Police also apprehended two individuals, Raj (31) and Ajay (27), who were accused of harbouring the fugitives. Raj is a domestic help from Seemapuri, Delhi, and Ajay runs a mobile shop in Jammu. These two are believed to have sheltered the accused while they planned to flee to Nepal.
The arrests were made after a meticulous search operation based on technical surveillance. Initially, the police searched New Delhi Railway Station and later traced the suspects to ISBT Kashmere Gate, where they were attempting to escape.
Authorities revealed that Harsh Singh has three previous criminal cases against him, while Abhay and Arun were previously involved in cases related to the NDPS Act and unlawful assembly.
The accused will be handed over to Jammu Police after being produced in court. This operation marks a significant step in dismantling the Khauf Gang’s activities.
