Indore Police have arrested four members of the notorious Kharkiya Gang, including its leader Khark Singh alias Kharkiya, in a major crackdown on a series of residential thefts across the city. The gang, active in areas like Tejaji Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, and Aerodrome, primarily targeted unoccupied homes, police said.
Following Singh’s arrest and interrogation, three more gang members were apprehended. The operation, conducted under the supervision of a trainee IPS officer, involved two police teams—one interrogating local jewellers, and another focusing on recovering stolen goods.
During the raids, police recovered around 1 kg of stolen gold. Investigations led to the arrest of a jeweller named Chetan from Manawar, who allegedly helped melt and resell the stolen gold. His statement helped uncover other jewellers involved, including Gyanendra, Gajendra alias Bunty, and Vikas, operating in Chhota Sarafa and Nandanagar.
These jewellers are now under scrutiny, and further raids are being planned to trace the remaining gang members and recover additional stolen property. Authorities believe the gang has committed multiple high-value thefts in recent months.
