Khajrana police have arrested two men involved in trafficking the banned synthetic drug MD, recovering 12.2 grams of the substance valued at over Rs 1.2 lakh, along with a scooter. This action is part of an ongoing crackdown on narcotics, following orders from senior officials to curb crime in the city.
Based on confidential intelligence, a team led by Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Sendhav increased surveillance on suspected drug dealers. During the operation near Waghela Garden, the two suspects were spotted standing beside a scooter. Upon noticing the police, they tried to escape but were promptly caught. A search revealed packets of MD drugs in their possession.
The accused have been identified as 18-year-old Alfez Ansari, a garment shop worker from Azad Nagar who studied up to Class 10, and 23-year-old Mohammad Jafar Shah, an illiterate rickshaw driver from the same locality. Both admitted to drug addiction and stated they engaged in trafficking to support their habits and earn quick money.
A case under Sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Khajrana police station. The accused have been taken into custody for further investigation. Officials stated that additional interrogation during police remand will focus on tracing the source of the contraband and uncovering the larger trafficking network.
