Keyshawn Hughes, 14, was arrested by the South Fulton Police Department Fugitive Unit on March 22, 2026, in connection with a fatal double shooting that occurred on March 20 on Bethsaida Road.
Hughes faces multiple charges, including:
Two counts of felony murder
Two counts of aggravated assault
Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
Possession of a firearm by a person under 18
The victims, both 15-year-old boys, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have withheld their names pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators, led by Interim Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander, used intelligence-driven techniques and coordinated surveillance to track Hughes to a local church on Fairburn Road. He was apprehended without incident during a traffic stop after leaving the church.
District 4 Councilmember Jaceey Sebastian and Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs praised the swift police response, expressed condolences to the victims’ families, and emphasized the importance of community safety and unity.
