
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Two Birmingham men are facing serious drug trafficking charges after a failed attempt to avoid capture in St. Clair County.
According to the St. Clair County Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Ke’yon Atkins, 20, and Raishean Garrett McCoy, 34, were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including drug trafficking and fleeing law enforcement.
During the arrest, authorities recovered approximately 442 grams (15 ounces) of methamphetamine along with a loaded handgun.
Following the investigation:
Ke’yon Atkins was charged with six counts of drug trafficking
Raishean McCoy was charged with two counts of drug trafficking
Both suspects are currently held in St. Clair County Jail on a combined bond exceeding $9 million.
Sheriff Billy Murray thanked the Moody Police Department, Leeds Police Department, St. Clair County Patrol Division, and Alabama Law Enforcement Division for their assistance in making the arrests.
