BOULDER, Colo. – A Colorado man was arrested after a chaotic crime spree that spanned multiple cities and counties, involving stolen cars, burglaries, and reckless driving. The spree began on February 25 when Kevin Aguirre, 31, allegedly stole a vehicle near O’Neal Circle in Boulder. He was arrested at 30th and Baseline and was later released on bond four days later, after posting $1,000 of a $10,000 bond.
On March 9, Aguirre reportedly committed a burglary in Longmont and stole another vehicle. That same night, Boulder Police officers spotted the stolen car but were unable to stop him as he fled. On March 11, Aguirre broke into a home on Bluff Street in Boulder, stealing a third vehicle before ditching the Longmont car.
The following morning, March 12, officers spotted Aguirre in the newly stolen vehicle. Once again, he refused to stop, driving recklessly and putting the community at risk. The Boulder Police Special Enforcement Unit, alongside auto theft task force agencies and the Colorado State Patrol, pursued Aguirre as he drove through the metro area.
At one point, Aguirre attempted to steal yet another car in Westminster but was stopped by officers. He then fled the scene in the previously stolen vehicle and eluded officers until he was captured in Loveland after striking multiple police vehicles. Fortunately, no officers were injured during the pursuit.
Aguirre was booked into jail on the following charges:
Two counts of Second-Degree Burglary
Two counts of Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft
First-Degree Trespass to a Dwelling
Theft ($1,000-$2,000)
Two counts of Vehicular Eluding
Reckless Driving
Obstruction
Criminal Mischief ($5,000-$20,000)
Criminal Mischief ($2,000-$5,000)

On March 13, a judge set Aguirre’s bond at $200,000. Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn praised the efforts of the Special Enforcement Unit and regional law enforcement partners in safely apprehending Aguirre, despite the dangers he posed to the community.
