In a swift breakthrough, Rambha police on Wednesday arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old man, B Manu Pradhan, a grocery shop owner in Bahadapalli village.

The accused, Keshab Pradhan and Jaya Pradhan, both residents of the same village, were apprehended for hacking Manu to death near a railway level crossing on the night of August 2.

According to Rambha IIC Kumar Muduli, Keshab confessed during interrogation that he and Jaya plotted and executed the murder due to long-standing personal enmity. Keshab had an ongoing land dispute with the victim, while Jaya reportedly bore resentment after being ostracised from the village during Manu’s tenure as the village committee president.

On the night of the incident, the duo ambushed Manu while he was returning home alone and attacked him with sharp weapons, leading to his death. Police have recovered the weapons used in the attack.

Authorities are now investigating whether any additional individuals were involved in the crime. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community.
