A 19-year-old youth from Kerala, identified as Mohammed Sinan from Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, was arrested on Saturday in Coimbatore for possessing 150 grams of methamphetamine, a highly addictive synthetic drug.
According to police sources, Sinan was traveling on a Kerala-bound train when officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) began conducting an anti-drug inspection in general compartments at Coimbatore railway station on Saturday afternoon.
Spotting the police, Sinan reportedly got off the train and attempted to flee. He was quickly chased down and apprehended by the enforcement teams. Upon inspection, authorities found 150 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
Further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the drugs. Police are also looking into whether Sinan is part of a larger trafficking network.
