In a major crackdown, Uttar Pradesh police arrested a high-profile drug smuggler, Harishikesh Danedar, who was supplying narcotics using a luxury Mercedes car in Noida. The police seized local marijuana and a foreign drug called OG from his possession, with a total estimated value of Rs4 lakh.
Speaking to the media, Noida DCP Yamuna Prasad said that Harishikesh Danedar, originally from Kerala, had been residing in JP Cosmos Society, Noida. He was allegedly targeting schools, colleges, and malls in Noida and Delhi, reaching out to students via social media platforms.
To avoid suspicion, the accused used a Mercedes-Benz, projecting an elite lifestyle. The police recovered 6.8 kilograms of marijuana and 500 grams of OG from him. Notably, OG — a foreign narcotic — is reportedly priced at Rs6 lakh per kilogram in the international market.
Danedar sourced the OG drug from Delhi and used it to meet custom demands from young consumers across Noida.
The arrest was made near Asgarpur T-point in Sector-127 by Sector-126 police during a routine check. Authorities also seized the Mercedes car used in the drug deliveries.
An investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and sources of the drug supply.
