Kenneth Wims Arrested in Connection to Multiple Vehicle Thefts

Frederick Police Connect 31-Year-Old to Vehicle Theft Surge

by Sophia Bennett

Frederick, MD – Police in Frederick have made a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation of vehicle tampering and thefts across the area. Authorities arrested 31-year-old Kenneth Wims, the primary suspect behind the recent wave of theft-from-vehicle incidents.

Wims was already under investigation when officers responded to a complaint about trespassing and panhandling on December 16. After taking swift action, they apprehended Wims at the scene.

Now facing multiple charges, Wims is accused of trespassing, disorderly conduct, and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia. Following further discussions with local residents, police connected Wims to additional theft reports in the Rock Creek Estates and Stonegate neighborhoods. A deeper investigation revealed evidence linking him to several other vehicle thefts, resulting in 25 additional charges.

This isn’t Wims’ first run-in with the law—he was previously arrested in 2016 by Frederick Police for vehicle theft involving a moped.

Currently held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, Wims awaits further proceedings as authorities continue to gather evidence against him. Police are still investigating and working to identify any additional victims.
