ROME, Ga. — A Marietta teenager was arrested in Rome this week after being accused of multiple counts of financial card fraud, authorities said.
According to police reports, Kenneth Lamar Houston, 18, allegedly tried to make fraudulent purchases on September 18 by scanning lower-priced items on his cellphone to avoid paying full value for products.
Investigators said Houston attempted to steal more than $577.50 worth of gift cards through the scheme.
Houston was arrested and charged with three counts of financial transaction card fraud.
Police did not release additional details about whether others were involved or if the case is connected to similar fraud incidents in the area.
