RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A Reno man will spend the next decade behind bars after pleading guilty to trafficking large amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
According to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, Kengji Battle was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison after a September 2024 arrest revealed a substantial stash of illegal drugs in his possession.
On Sept. 23, 2024, a Washoe County Sheriff’s deputy pulled Battle over for speeding. The deputy called for assistance from the Northern Nevada Interdiction Task Force, which included a K9 unit.
After the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, officers searched the vehicle and discovered:
3 pounds of methamphetamine (approx. 6,800 doses)
0.25 pounds of cocaine (approx. 570 doses)
0.33 pounds of fentanyl (approx. 6,040 doses)
Battle’s arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by Reno Police detectives, who had previously linked him to drug trafficking operations in the area.
The DA’s office emphasized the danger of fentanyl, highlighting the potential for thousands of lethal doses to reach the streets.
