CARROLL COUNTY, Miss. — A man suspected of involvement in a broader car theft operation across the Southeast was arrested Tuesday in Mississippi after law enforcement tracked a stolen vehicle from Florida via GPS.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, responding to a call from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, located the stolen vehicle in the McCarley area. After a brief pursuit, deputies apprehended Brandon Gordon, 43, of Durant and Southaven, Mississippi.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered multiple weapons, a misdemeanor amount of marijuana, and electronic tools commonly used in vehicle thefts.
Gordon was arrested and booked into the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility on the following charges:
Possession of stolen property
Possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle with weapon enhancement
Authorities also confirmed Gordon was already out on bond from DeSoto County on multiple felony charges at the time of his arrest.
Investigators from Memphis and Southaven Police Departments are now working with Carroll County deputies to determine Gordon’s connection to a massive vehicle theft ring operating across the Southeastern U.S.
Gordon remains in custody in Carroll County as the multi-agency investigation continues.
