Keith Nickerson Charged in Screwdriver Assault in Westmoreland

Victim Suffers Minor Injury; Incident Occurred at State Facility

Westmoreland, NY — A 46-year-old Westmoreland man, Keith Nickerson, has been arrested and charged following a violent incident involving a screwdriver at a state-run facility.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged attack took place on September 16, though authorities did not disclose the specific name of the facility. Nickerson is accused of attempting to stab another man in the head with a screwdriver during an altercation.

Fortunately, the victim moved just in time, avoiding a direct blow. He sustained a minor injury to his temple but did not require serious medical attention.

Nickerson was arrested on Monday and formally charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities have also requested an order of protection on behalf of the victim.

The investigation remains ongoing.
