Sheffield, UK — A serial thief from Crookes has been sentenced to 10 months in prison following a week-long crime spree that saw him commit multiple thefts and burglaries across Sheffield.
Keenan Goddard, aged 24, was arrested on Wednesday, April 23, after South Yorkshire Police responded to a theft report just 30 minutes after the crime occurred. Officers located Goddard wearing clothing matching the description provided by witnesses and took him into custody.
Over the course of just one week — from April 16 to April 23 — Goddard carried out a series of thefts from shops, burgled premises, and targeted a vehicle, stealing items worth an estimated £750 in total.
Despite remaining silent during police interviews and offering no comment to all questions, Goddard was swiftly charged with multiple offences. These included four counts of theft from a shop, two counts of burglary, one count of theft from a motor vehicle, and one count of vehicle interference.
Appearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 24, Goddard pleaded guilty to all charges and was handed a 10-month custodial sentence.
PC Lily Richmond of the Sheffield South East Neighbourhood Policing Team praised the swift action of officers in apprehending the suspect and thanked the community for assisting in the investigation.
“Goddard deserves to spend time in jail for his repeat offending which has caused a nuisance to our community,” said PC Richmond. “He has shown no regard for the hard-working members of the public from whom he has stolen, or the businesses that he has targeted.”
She added, “There is no place for thieves in South Yorkshire, and I hope that after he has served his time, Goddard puts his efforts into becoming a productive member of society.”
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and fast police response in addressing repeat offenders.
