EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND — Former Livingston FC player Keaghan Jacobs has been charged in connection with a football betting scam involving a yellow card during a 2019 match against Celtic.
Jacobs, 35, is accused of deliberately getting booked during the Scottish Premiership clash on October 6, 2019, at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Court documents state he “acted in a manner whereby he would receive a yellow card” to enable or assist others in cheating at gambling.
Jacobs now plays for Lowland League side Gala Fairydean Rovers. He appeared in person at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, where a trial date was set for October. A bail condition was imposed, prohibiting him from contacting his co-accused, Conan McDiarmid.
McDiarmid, 40, of Bonnyrigg, is alleged to have placed and arranged bets on Jacobs receiving the caution, knowing it had been planned in advance. He also faces prosecution under Section 42, 1A of the Gambling Act 2005.
The match ended in a 2-0 victory for Livingston over Celtic.
