AUSTIN, Texas — Kaynin Jackson, 31, has been arrested in connection with the theft of an SUV from a South Austin dealership. The Austin Police Department (APD) responded to an aggravated robbery call at Capital Chevrolet, located in the 6200 block of S I-35 Frontage Road, on February 26 around 5 p.m.

According to police, Jackson brandished a handgun at an employee and stole a brand-new Chevrolet Equinox. Following the robbery, APD launched an extensive investigation, pulling in resources from the Air Unit, Robbery Unit, and Violent Crimes Task Force.

Within approximately 45 minutes, officers tracked the stolen SUV to a transit station in East Austin. The vehicle was later found at a Walmart on the East Ben White Service Road, where Jackson was arrested without incident.

During the arrest, officers discovered a handwritten robbery note in the vehicle, which appeared to be related to a potential bank robbery. Jackson is currently being held in the Travis County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery and a parole violation.
