Seven Indian nationals from Gujarat, including Kaushikkumar Patel and Arthkumar Patel, were detained at Mumbai International Airport after being deported from Dubai for possessing fake Schengen visas. Authorities confirmed that the group planned to travel to 29 destinations in Luxembourg, facilitated by a fraudulent agent from Gujarat.
According to Sahar Police, the travel was arranged by a local agent named Kisan, who provided tourist and counterfeit Luxembourg employment visas, promising that these documents would enable the individuals to live and work across European countries without restriction.
During inspection at Mumbai Airport, Immigration Officer Vishnu Sawant flagged their documents as fake, following a prior alert from Dubai immigration authorities. A detailed probe revealed that the Schengen visas lacked mandatory security features, marking them as counterfeit.
“The detainees were misled into believing they could easily settle in Europe using these fake documents,” said an officer familiar with the investigation. Upon interrogation, the individuals disclosed the agent’s instructions and their intended long-term migration plans.
The Sahar Police have initiated legal proceedings and are currently tracing the agent responsible for orchestrating the fraud. Authorities fear the case may be part of a larger immigration scam exploiting individuals seeking overseas employment.
The incident underscores the growing menace of fake visa rackets in India and the urgent need for tighter controls on international travel documentation and verification.
