Kathmandu police have arrested two individuals for a high-value theft at a rented room in Lama Galli, Kalopul, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-5. The suspects, Upendra Khatri, 23, and Niraj Sapkota, 26, were apprehended along with the stolen items and weapons used in the crime.
According to police reports, a complaint was filed on Chaitra 6, reporting the theft of approximately 26 tola 8 anna of gold jewelry, silver valued at 33,000 NPR, and 61,000 NPR in cash (including Nepali and Indian currency) from a wooden drawer.
During the investigation, officers recovered:
Gold jewelry: three Tilhari, one chain, one necklace, three bangles, and eight beads used in a Naugedi
Silver items: anklets, plates, and rings
Cash: 249,000 NPR
A Honda scooter used in the theft
Weapons: a 2.8-foot-long sword, one khukuri, and two iron rods
Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai confirmed the arrests and recovery of the stolen items. The suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations and legal proceedings are underway.
