FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WOAY) — A Greenbrier County woman is facing serious drug charges following a traffic stop in Fayette County.
Just after 9 p.m. on Friday night, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Mt. Hope for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the driver, Katelynn McClung, 28, of Rupert, informed deputies that there was marijuana inside the vehicle.
That admission led to a probable cause search of the car, where deputies discovered five separate bags of what is believed to be cocaine. Authorities also found weighing scales, a quantity of U.S. currency, and a firearm.
McClung was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver a Schedule II Narcotic, a felony offense. She was transported to the Southern Regional Jail, where she remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
Fayette County officials continue their efforts to reduce drug activity through routine patrols and traffic enforcement.
