Palm Beach County, FL — A Loxahatchee woman is behind bars after being charged with animal neglect resulting in the death of two dogs. Kate Faroni now joins her husband, Jason Faroni, who is also jailed in connection with the same case.
Kate Faroni appeared in a Palm Beach County courtroom this morning, where a judge set her bond at $12,000. Court records indicate her brother-in-law, Connor Faroni, filed a complaint with animal control, reporting concerns over the care of at least four dogs and two pigs living in the couple’s home.
Animal Control, along with county deputies, conducted multiple welfare checks. During one visit, officials discovered a dead animal inside the residence. The Faronis claimed the home had lost power due to an accident involving a power line, but investigators later confirmed the electricity had been disconnected by Florida Power & Light for non-payment.
Despite the Faronis claiming they were checking on the animals, the complainant insisted otherwise. On January 15, Animal Control discovered the lifeless bodies of a 13-year-old Yorkshire terrier and a 2-year-old boxer, believed to have died from starvation or dehydration.
Both Kate and Jason Faroni have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
