MANTORVILLE, Minn. – Johnathan David Harris, 52, from Kasson, Minnesota, is facing multiple attempted murder charges after a violent stabbing incident on April 11 in which he allegedly tried to stab a woman and her son.
Harris has been charged with first-degree premeditated attempted murder, first-degree attempted murder while committing domestic abuse, two counts of second-degree assault, and one count of domestic assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the attack occurred when Harris and the woman were engaged in an argument. When the woman’s son attempted to intervene and stop Harris from using the knife, Harris allegedly raised the knife at him and tried to stab him. The man defended himself, raising his hands and getting cut by the blade in the process.
The male victim later told police that he woke up to the sound of his mother screaming. He said that Harris had taken her keys, car, wallet, and phone before attempting to stab him in the chest with the knife. The situation escalated as Harris allegedly stood over him, choking him and attempting to stab him in the neck.
Police arrived on the scene and discovered a blood trail leading from the kitchen, living room, stairwell, and bathroom, which was left by the male victim as he fled the scene.
Officers also recovered the black folding knife described in the complaint from one of the vehicles on the property. Harris has a prior conviction for domestic assault and battery from Oklahoma in 2016, adding to his extensive history of violence.
Harris remains in custody, facing serious charges related to the incident.
