Kashmir Man Abdul Majid Mir Arrested for Rs 50 Lakh Fraud

Impersonated LG’s Duty Officer, Promised Fake Jobs & Land

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has arrested Abdul Majid Mir, a resident of Lishtiyal, Kupwara, for impersonating a Duty Officer to the Lieutenant Governor and defrauding people of over Rs 50 lakh.

Mir lured victims by promising government jobs and land allotments at SDA Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, in exchange for hefty sums. He issued forged appointment letters purportedly from the Airport Authority of India and fake land allotment documents allegedly from the Srinagar Development Authority.

Based on the evidence, Mir was charged under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC. He was remanded to five days’ police custody for further investigation by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Srinagar.

The Crime Branch has urged the public to stay alert against similar scams and reaffirmed its commitment to prosecuting economic offenders.
