Delhi Police arrested Kashinath Mallik (32) from Nilagiri in Odisha’s Balasore district for his role in a high-value burglary involving over Rs1.10 crore stolen from a builder’s residence in the national capital.
Kashinath, a cook at the builder’s house, allegedly masterminded the theft along with two accomplices from his village — Ashutosh Mallick (27) and Jagabandhu Mallick (30) — both domestic helpers in the same residence. The trio planned the burglary and fled with the stolen money to Odisha.
The police investigation gained momentum when Ashutosh was caught at Delhi railway station attempting to escape, followed by Jagabandhu’s arrest at Patna bus stand with Rs45 lakh. Interrogations revealed Kashinath’s location in Bhimei village, Nilagiri, leading to his arrest and the recovery of Rs30.5 lakh.
Gobardhan Nayak, IIC of Nilagiri Police Station, stated, “Kashinath was the mastermind behind the burglary, orchestrating the entire crime and recruiting his two accomplices.”
Kashinath was produced before the local court and placed on transit remand by Delhi Police for further investigation.
