In a major crackdown on the heroin (chitta) network, Shimla Police have arrested five drug peddlers operating in different parts of Theog Subdivision. The arrests were made as part of a continuing investigation into regional drug trafficking.
The accused have been identified as:
Kartik Verma (25) of Theog
Rahul Sharma (25) from Thoond (Junga)
Sandeep (32) of Shapra (Chopal)
Ankush Tanta (35) from Mehana (Jubbal)
Papil Bhushan (30) of Nihari (Kotkhai)
According to Theog DSP Siddharth Sharma, the arrests stem from an earlier case in which a peddler was caught on January 9 with 76 grams of heroin near Theog. Subsequent investigation and backward linkages revealed connections to the five recently arrested suspects.
All have been booked under Sections 21, 27A, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
