An employee at First Baptist Church Spartanburg has been fired after a disturbing daycare incident involving a toddler was captured on video.
According to police, on March 31, Karon Corbin, a daycare worker at the church, was allegedly seen on surveillance footage forcibly handling a three-year-old child during nap time. The video reportedly shows Corbin lifting the toddler by the arm and throwing the child to the floor. She then appears to adjust the nap mat, pick up the child again, and throw them face down.
Fortunately, police reported that the toddler did not sustain any injuries. The daycare director reviewed the footage and promptly reported the incident to the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS). Corbin was immediately terminated from her position.
Following an investigation, authorities charged Corbin with unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm. The case is now moving through the criminal justice system, drawing concern from the local community about daycare safety and oversight.
